Scoot Around Rome · Cinecittà metro, Rome
A 7.5-hour day from Rome by minivan: the water garden of Villa Lante at Bagnaia, then two to three hours in Civita, with both entry tickets paid. It is the shortest and calmest way to Civita from Rome in this list, and the only one where your group has the vehicle to itself.

This is a private day, not a coach trip. Scoot Around Rome picks you up at Cinecittà metro station on line A (hotel pickup for groups of three or four) and drives about 80 to 100 minutes to Bagnaia, near Viterbo. Villa Lante is a 16th-century garden of terraces, fountains and water channels, and the listing allows about an hour and a half there. Civita is 20 minutes further on, with two to three hours to walk the bridge, see the village and stop for lunch if you want.
Both entry tickets are included: Villa Lante (€8 on the state museum page) and the €5 Civita ticket. At about $134 per person, that makes it the best value among the private options from Rome. Guests name Simone, the driver-guide, in most reviews, and mention water, snacks and Wi-Fi on board.
Read the restrictions before you book. The listing rules out people over 70, pregnant women, anyone over 127 kg and people with mobility problems. Villa Lante is closed on Mondays, and one guest reports the plan changing because the garden was shut for repairs. One reviewer also found the walk from the drop-off to the viewpoint long, with a bus back.
Meet at Cinecittà on metro line A. Groups of three or four can ask for hotel pickup instead.
About 80 to 100 minutes up the A1 and across to Bagnaia, on the edge of Viterbo.
About an hour and a half in the garden. The fountains and terraces run downhill between the twin pavilions.
A 20-minute drive. Two to three hours to cross the bridge, walk the village and have lunch if you like.
About 100 minutes on the road, back to Cinecittà about 7.5 hours after you left.

★★★★★The tour guide Simone's driving skills are first-class and safe. There is wifi and water on the bus. There are two attractions, and the time spent is reasonable. The scenery is very beautiful.
★★★★★Simone was perfect. Very kind, helpful, and an excellent driver. We had bad weather, but that didn't spoil the trip, which was special in every way. Villa Lante is a beautiful garden, and Civita di Bagnoregio is a must-see. An excellent option for getting to know a little bit of Lazio, guided with comfort and friendliness.
